Walleye are very fun to catch drifting worm harness on the bottom. She caught it in 20 ft of water around 2 miles east of Walnut Creek on a Hot and Tot. Lake water temperatures have significantly warmed sending fish to the colder deeper waters. It was 33 inches long and had a 17 inch girth. One of the best baits for bass are live crayfish available at some bait shops. This past weekend saw countless anglers bringing in limits in only a few hours. It seems the only time anyone is catching anything is after a rain which we have only had three rains so far this season. Small mouth fishing has been fair from the boat launch north to the Lake at the Elk Creek access and off the Wall at the Walnut Creek Access Area. Current Lake temperature is still a warm 69 degrees. Good numbers of steelhead are "staging" in 40 to fifty feet of water. They both were caught out in 60 ft of water East of Walnut Creek on Emerald shiners cut in half. Fifteen your old Phillip McCloskey of Derry, PA brought in his 9 pound 10 ounce Steelhead for Angler Award. There is a 30% chance of showers on Friday. His was caught at the same depth of 68 ft and west of Walnut Creek. I will be here on December 21 but just to close up for the season. Anglers are advised that the Pennsylvania Lake Erie Tributaries (yes, all of them) are closed to fishing from 12:01 April 13th to 8:00 AM April 14th ( a 32 hour period).
